Slovene Impressionists and their Time 1890-1920, guidebook
Publisher Description
The exhibition marks the Slovenian Presidency of the European Union and the 90th anniversary of the National Gallery of Slovenia. It is also an opportunity for the public, after several decades, to reacquaint themselves directly with the widely loved and respected originals of four master Impressionists – Jakopič, Jama, Grohar and Sternen – and to, at the same time, get to know again, or grow fond of, the many famous fellow Impressionist artists, like Anton Ažbe, Ivana Kobilca, Ferdo Vesel, Ivan Vavpotič and many others. At the same time, the exhibition wishes to foreshadow the sculptural, photographic and architectural achievements of the time, when, after the earthquake, Ljubljana received a blooming Secessionist appearance and quite several significant monuments sprang up.
This exhibition guidebook presents over 50 the most interesting works of art. Extensive exhibition catalogue is also available.
