DEFINITELY, MAYBE...OR LOVE, ACTUALLY?
English professor Bonnie Blythe expects her life to play out like her favorite novels, especially now that her long-term boyfriend has finally proposed. So when a shocking discovery leads Bonnie to end her engagement, she decides to close the book on love. But the plot thickens when a brand-new character enters the scene—and quickens Bonnie's heart.
With his brilliant blue eyes, sexy accent, and irresistible charm, Theo Wharton is like a romantic hero straight out of a Jane Austen novel. When fate places Bonnie in England for a summer—conveniently close to Theo—she realizes a hot friends-with-benefits fling is exactly what she needs to start a fresh chapter. Just as Bonnie begins to believe she's falling in love, an eye-opening revelation into Theo's life makes Bonnie feel like she's wandered into one of her favorite books. Will Bonnie have the courage to risk her heart and turn the page with the dashing Brit to find her true happy ending after all?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Johnson's second Sometimes in Love transatlantic contemporary puts a modern twist on the impoverished duke who needs to marry an heiress. Theo Wharton, Duke of Emberton, is in Chicago to meet the woman who is supposed to solve his money problems, but he would rather be with Bonnie Blythe, an English professor and self-professed Anglophile, whom he met when her friend Cassie fell for his friend Logan (in Getting Hot with the Scot). Theo is delighted to learn that Bonnie has broken her engagement with her cheating fianc and is ready for some changes. A serendipitous connection leads to Bonnie landing a summer job in Cambridge, where she teaches Shakespeare, explores new career paths, and romps with Theo. The sexy escapades are a little predictable but still electric, and Theo's dates with Bonnie around London are the stuff of romantic fantasies. As their friendship deepens, Theo helps Bonnie work through her anger at her ex, ensuring their sweet, steamy relationship is more than a rebound. The scenes with Bonnie and Theo's families and sassy, blunt Cassie and Logan are rollicking fun and provide excellent grounding for the romance. This irreverent tale turns several romance tropes on their heads while still delivering that sweet fairy tale ending that readers look for.

Smitten by the Brit is book 2 in the Sometimes in Love series by Melonie Johnson and brings us back to Bonnie and Theo who met in book 1.
Since Bonnie was engaged and the sparks she felt were nothing more than meeting an attractive man...her vacation ends, back to Chicago and her fiancé except he wasn’t monogamous while she was away. She breaks up with him and decides to move on only she’s not sure what that entails...that is until Theo comes to Chicago on business and when he sees her again he’s determined to light up her life and fan the flames of attraction...
Humor, romance over the pond, fun times and finding what life has in store and it may not be what you expected...
Fantastic! Jane Austen with some heat!
Absolutely fabulous! A terrific follow up to the first story, Getting Hot with the Scot, about Cassie and Logan. You don’t have to read that one to enjoy this story but it's too good to miss out on. While the girlfriends where vacationing in the British Isles the Shakespeare-loving Bonnie met the man of her dreams, the extremely handsome extremely British Theo, Logan's bestie. But alas Bonnie is engaged to her childhood boyfriend and ignores the spark that Theo ignites. Months later several things happen, some good and one very sad, and Bonnie finds herself back in England and once again drawn to Theo but without a fiancé. What transpires is a sweet and sexy romance between the swoon-worthy Theo and the lovely Bonnie. As their romance progresses Theo's secret is revealed and throws Bonnie for a loop. Can she overcome her misgivings and take a chance on her dream man? She'd better! This is another wonderfully written, swoony romance with loads of emotion and few laughs. The characters are terrific with a group of girlfriends that are all uniquely individual, men that are so hot and perfect, and fantastic secondary characters. I can't wait for the next story.
Great book
When I read Getting Hot with the Scot, I knew that Theo and Bonnie were going to end up together. Even though Bonnie has been in a long term relationship since middle school with the same guy, there was something about their meeting in book one that the writing was on the wall for me.
What was completely unexpected (for me, anyway) was the way Bonnie and Theo got together and all the drama surrounding them. This book had a bit more angst than I thought it would. Even with all of the downs, there were plenty of ups that kept me engaged in the story.
I loved Theo's family and seeing some great characters from the first book in the series. I can't wait to see what happens in book 3!
