Dani Holden is days away from leaving the classroom for real life calls in the county's emergency dispatch room. Things seem to be looking up--but things are rarely what they seem. 

Her neighbor vanishes. Her friend's troubled granddaughter needs a place to stay. She is subpoenaed for a money laundering hearing. To top it off, a sheriff's deputy wants to get to know her better.

When a fire erupts in her rural Iowa town, rookie Dani answers the 9-1-1 call.

After it's determined the fire was intentionally set, her friend's granddaughter is brought in for questioning. As Dani roots out the incident's origins, she's forced to confront a dark mystery at its core.
