Publisher Description
This book is a collaborative effort of the staff and students of the Gwa’sala-‘Nak’waxda’xw School. The school is located on the Tsulquate Reserve in Port Hardy, British Columbia, Canada. We created this interactive book as a Masters of Education project, through the University of Victoria. The goal was to incorporate technology as a tool to document aspects of the rich First Nations culture. In the summer of 2012, the school built a smokehouse in partnership with North Island College. This book chronicles the Gwa’sala-‘Nak’waxda’xw students learning the process of preserving salmon from their culture teachers “K’odi” Henry Nelson and “T'ɬaɬamdala'ogwa” Liz Cadwallader.
