Snakes are long, legless reptiles that are masters of disguise and experts hunters. Although many people fear snakes, most snakes helpfully eat great numbers of rats and mice and other pests. 


The fear of snakes is called ophiophobia.

Most species of snakes are not venomous.

All snakes are carnivores.

Snakes can swallow prey larger than their heads.

Snakes don’t have eyelids.

Snakes are found on every continent except Antarctica

Snakes can range from about 10 cm long to over 6 metres!
