Snow & Her Huntsman

I LOVED IT!!!

First of all, I am not a huge BDSM fan. I'll read it, but it's not my favorite.

THIS book, however, was an absolutely wonderful mix of the BDSM/kink and the lovey-dovey stuff that saps like me enjoy reading about.

Along those lines, I loved how Rylee was totally believable; a "newbie" to the BDSM scene, she was skeptical, as I assume most people would be, and she did not hold back her feelings in that regard! She even poked some fun at it to get a rise out of Hunter (no pun intended).

Also along those lines, this book wasn't just about the bondage or the domination or the sex. Rylee ad Hunter had a real STORY, and that aspect of the book was so touching and kept me eagerly turning the pages to see what finally happened at the end.

The ending, specifically the private dialogue between Rylee and Hunter in the last scene, is one of my favorites. The things he said to her, even though it was just a few sentences, are now some of my favorite lines from a book!

This is the 2nd book I have read in this series. (I inadvertently skipped book #2 in the series, but these all seem to work just fine as stand-alones).

It was so cool how the 1st book, (I assume the 2nd) and the 3rd book, while all involving different characters, are occurring at the same time. For example, Rylee and Hunter (from this book) were "watching a show" that Jamie and Bryce were also watching in the 1st book. I can't recall a series that has been written this way, and I thought it was brilliant.

Needless to say, the love scenes were HOT, and Rylee and Hunter did things in this book that I never knew were possible. Not only are they possible, but I learned, via Hunter, that these things are done so often that society has given them NAMES! Who knew?!

I will definitely have to double-back and read book 2 in the series, and I am SO excited that book 4 is in the works!!!

And my love for this series continues with the third book in the Once Upon a Dom series. This was, without a doubt, the hottest book in the series thus far, and I loved the display of mad passion between the reunited lovers. My only complaint is that I wish the editor had done as thorough a job of catching a few (nine) obvious errors: missing articles, and the misspelling of words. While it didn't affect the story, it certainly interfered with the flow. I hope this will be the only unfortunate incident as future books in this series get released because they're too enjoyable to miss. Also, the BDSM is on the light/playful side.

I thought Rylee was a sweet character, even though she was a spitfire in the very beginning. She sort of evened out as the story went on. And Hunter was a sexy, sneaky devil. The term "blackmail" was an accurate description for what he did to get her compliance. Given that they had a very brief but impressionable history about a decade ago, she wasn't as outraged as one might have expected her to be. All blustering aside, she wanted it as much as he did.

The pacing of the story and their growing relationship was very fast, considering their only interactions that we were privy to were a recounting of an unforgettable, sex-filled weekend during their college days, and a brief meeting six months before this story took place. It wasn't very clear, but my understanding of that weekend ten years ago was that they hadn't been dating during that time. They met at a party, they went home together, spent the weekend being kinky, and then he suddenly wrote her off thus breaking her heart. She claimed that she'd fallen in love with him back then, and even though she'd moved on and married someone else, she never stopped thinking about him. If you don't mind the insta-love/insta-lust overtones, then it shouldn't matter.

The sex in this book was off the charts HOT! Once again, I got to relieve the Red Riding Hood scene through their eyes, and wow! Then there was the ATV scene, and a few more to keep the juices flowing. Their journey followed the same formula as the previous books. You got a weekend full of kinky, sexy fun, and the last day was reserved for the much needed heart-to-heart. It worked for me because by then some measure of trust and/or budding love had been established.

Even though I'd usually dock a star for poor editing, the wholly unexpected plot twist at the end just did it for me. It put an interesting twist on everything. That alone made up for a few shortcomings. If you're looking for a quick, fun and very sexy read then I do recommend picking this up.
