Pulling back the curtain, Cari studied the western sky. The weather forecast warned of heavy snow and high winds, also known as “blizzard conditions.” Even if she hadn’t heard the report on the noon news, she could have predicted a storm was on its way. The cattle had been milling around, turning their backs to the wind or crowding into the sheds since morning. This wasn't how she planned to spend Christmas but after agreeing to feed her brother's cattle on the ranch a blizzard brings an unexpected surprise when a stranded man shows up at her door.
