DI Freya Baxter is physically and mentally damaged from 18 months of harrowing undercover work. Now, returning to work, she’s fobbed off with a cold case to review, the body of an unknown woman, murdered several months earlier. And she’s expected to babysit two young Sergeants.


But when more brutal killings take place, Freya establishes a link between the new victims and an adult film studio. Freya’s investigations reveal that she is looking for a sadistic killer, who has targeted other victims across Europe.


Yet Freya and her team are woefully under–resourced; the killing of a young mother in front of her child has shocked London, and the police need an arrest, and quickly. No–one else has time for “less deserving” victims. And no–one is interested in her theories.


Freya and her team have to get under the skin of the adult entertainment business in order to get into the mind of a brutal killer.
