Solomon MacLean was born for trouble, and the untamed west is eager to oblige. A charming drifter who prefers the wild side of life to the quiet of the MacLean family's Virginia tobacco plantation, Solomon discovers his true talent and settles into playing cards in one of New Orleans' most notorious saloons.

However, his pearl-handled Colts are faster than any hand he deals. After killing an important man, Solomon flees New Orleans heading west with a Creole beauty, drifting from town to town, and earning a deadly reputation as a gunman.

Whether by luck or fate, he drifts into Cold Spring, Montana, where he is stunned to find his younger brother, David, serving as the town marshal. The reunion stirs something inside him he didn't know he was missing.
