Reese Ward went into the United States Navy Seabees on 3 July 1968, as an E-5 at twenty-three years old. After training in Gulfport, MS, and Port Hueneme, CA, his company was in Vietnam by the middle of February. Almost every day, Ward made at least one trip to the supply yard. One of three people in his company that had a driver's license, he kept a truck checked out the entire deployment. Shortly after arriving, he met a Da Nang businessman made him an offer he couldn't refuse...little did he know his adventures would lead him straight to the Vietnamese underworld.
