Publisher Description
We have to pretend that what we have is something like love…
USA TODAY Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa pens a fun and sexy romantic comedy where playing pretend turns to playing for keeps…
I’m down on my luck.
Scratch that. This is the worst week of my life.
Enter the last person I want to deal with: Burke St. James.
He’s wealthy.
He’s a womanizer.
And a big liar.
And it turns out we need each other.
Burke needs a fiancée to seal the deal of a lifetime. I need help or my business is going belly-up. So, Burke very non-romantically asks me to marry him. Well, he asks me to be fake engaged to him, anyway.
I’ll attend a few dinners, pretend I’m in love, and meet the family.
In exchange, he’ll invest in my company and help me launch it off the ground.
All is easy, except his kisses feel more real than they should.
And the sex…damn, we’re not supposed to have sex.
It’s all for show…right?
Did I mention he’s a really good liar?
Pretending not to fall in love is more complicated than I thought.

Loved it!
OMG! I love this RomCon of fake relationship, enemies to lovers with a slow burn. This is book 2 of Against All Odds: The St. James Family series—such a pleasure to be back with the St. James family again. This story is just so deliciously angsty and yet, somehow, never overdone, and it is an emotional rollercoaster as we hit the withdrawal symptoms that the characters endures. This story is also fun, witty banter, embarrassing hilarious situations, and moments of heartbreak. And the characters? I found myself at times laughing and other times swooning over the very handsome, tall, demanding, and sexy Burke St. James. This is Burke St. James and Chloe Lafferty’s story. Burke has a twin brother, Zach, and he has other brothers and sisters who are thoroughly entertaining, but unlike his other siblings, Burke’s reputation precedes him as a womanizer, does not believe in love, and not into relationships—just one night stands. After meeting Burke at a wedding a year ago while catering, Chloe and Burke had a connection, but it was thwarted when Burke’s best friend told Chloe some lies so that he could get her attention. Chloe has her own catering business, but she was trying to build a success business. When she was deceived by her ex-friend, she needed Burke’s help. Since Burke was buying up vineyards, he propositioned Chloe to be his fake fiancée to seal the deal of a lifetime since he helped her out. What did Burke help Chloe with? It was supposed to be temporary—until it wasn’t. The question is, will this fake relationship continue as pretend or will one of them admit their feelings to see what happens? Their battle of wits is tremendously fun—acerbic and sexy and filled with tension. Everything about Burke and Chloe seemed too good to be true, but none of that mattered until a situation turns Chloe’s idyllic life upside down. What will Chloe do now? Find out what happened—what a conundrum! If FUN is what you are after, look no further—read SOMETHING LIKE LOVE. This is a book I can reread over and over again. Claudia Burgoa brings this poignant story of friendship, heartache, loss, forgiveness, love, and also satisfies hearts longing for laughter in their love stories. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
So so good
I can’t get enough of this family. Absolutely love these books about the St James.
Scam and scammed
Scam and scammed.
Choke and Burke team up to run a mutually beneficial scam after being majorly scammed by Maddox.
Not sure why they both fell for Maddox’s scans and lies, but they do, leading to them scamming a fake engagement.
