From this day forward...
Thomas Granger has been married to his wife Lily for five years. The marriage has been proper, but without much affection, and the fault for that lays squarely on his own shoulders. He married her for her fortune and has hidden his true feelings until he felt redeemed enough to truly love her. Now his fortunes have been salvaged, so he aims to take the next major step in his life: wooing his wife.
Lily has been living with a broken heart from the day she married Thomas. What hope she had for a marriage of love has long faded, and she sees no reason to dream otherwise. When Thomas asks that she come with him to Cornwall to try a new adventure together, she takes the chance on one last hope in finding love in her marriage. Wrapped in the beauties and magic that only Cornwall can provide, she finds new life breathed into her, and into her feelings for her husband.
When their walls come down, when their pretense is gone, will they find the love each of them has sought? Or will the life they have known be all that remains?

Clean regency romance
Something Old by Rebecca Connolly (5 stars)
This is a beautiful story of redemption and second chances. The characters are rather tragic, at first, but it is an HEA.
The two main characters are married, and secretly love one another, but habits, assumptions and miscommunications have separated them to the point that they basically live separate lives.
The husband is a bit of a martyr though the first section of the book. He has felt ashamed that he married the woman he loves for her money and had determined that he would pay back every cent of her dowry before allowing himself to claim her love.
The wife has given up on showing her love for her husband because it seems to never be reciprocated.
The journey the two of them take towards the marriage they both want is a beautiful one. There are bumps in their road; some bigger than others.
Some of the funniest sections in the book are the coaching the husband receives from various gentleman friends about how to woo his wife. Another fun section is when characters from some of the author’s other books make an appearance for a brief time.
A creative storyline and swoon worthy romance!

Another winner by Rebecca Connolly
The Arrangements Series is one of my all time favorite books and are the books that got me hooked on Rebecca Connolly. Something Old brings back some of those fun characters! Thomas and Lily’s story is one that had me feeling a little sick to my stomach. The way each of their loneliness and shame stole every day and opportunity for a love-filled marriage for five years was so numbing. They were not living. They were only existing. Five years of that pattern was a mountainous challenge for the two of them to climb. But climb it they did and with a chorus of friendly supporters to boot. This book is a reminder that every day in my marriage I must make a choice, exist or truly live. The author has written well about a tough subject. Thank you Rebecca Connolly for the introduction to another series. I cannot wait to read them all, and my thanks for a copy of this book.
