Country star Emmy Lou King is singing the blues over the cowboy who got away…
Emmy Lou King's whole family is legendary in country music. When she lands the opportunity to sing the American Football League anthem and serve on one of the AFL's anti-drug charities, she's sure she can handle working with Brock Watson. She was charmed by the cowboy once upon a time—and she's never loved anyone else—but she can handle it. Right?
Brock Watson is feeling the pressure. From dealing with his father's declining health, to keeping their ranch running, staying in game-ready shape, and his dedication to the charity that changed his life, there's no time for anything else. Emmy Lou included. After six years, he'd like to think she couldn't mess with his head anymore. But one look, one smile—and he knows she's as dangerous as ever. He can't resist her—he never could.
The more time Emmy Lou spends with Brock, the harder it is for them to keep their distance.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
A new member of the King family of country music superstars steps into the romantic spotlight in Summers's charming second Kings of Country romance (after Jace). Good-hearted and always eager to please, singer Emmy Lou King agrees to serve on the American Football League's Drug Free Like Me charity which brings her back into contact with her former flame, football star Brock Watson. The two have had no contact for the past six years, but Brock still follows the Kings' music, and Emmy Lou can recite his stats. A photo shoot recreating their high school homecoming dance poses reignites their feelings, but Brock's brash new teammate, struggling ex-wife, and ailing father present obstacles to their happy ever after. Meanwhile, Emmy Lou contends with family issues of her own, navigating her emotionally subservient relationship with her domineering and manipulative mother. Though the characters' motivations occasionally seem forced and some of the more dramatic moments feel unearned, Summers's original lyrics for the King family's songs shine, and a cute scene in which Emmy Lou and Brock rescue a kitten who's found its way onto a football field mid-game will melt hearts. Series readers are sure to be satisfied.

Song for a a Cowboy by Sasha Summers
2nd book in the Kings of Country series. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but the sister does appear in a lot of this story so if spoilers bother you, you’d want to read Jace first. You don’t even have to like country music. But it wouldn’t hurt. Original music included in this book and the prior.
This book is Emmy Lou and Brock’s story. Sweet and sappy and so good.
Emmy Lou is a singer with millions of fans. She used to being in the spotlight. Brock is a famous football player recuperating from an injury that’s put him on the sidelines temporarily. Emmy and Brock have been avoiding each other for years. Their attraction is strong and now that they are working together for a charity the combustion is hot and unavoidable.
There are other family dynamics throughout the story including brother Travis who has maybe drinking and confidence issues, brooding bodyguard Sawyer who may be related and sadly, quasi evil and manipulative Cici. Jace and Krystal travel with the family singing group as well and bring the happy romance feel to the group.
I didn’t like Vanessa at all. Until she stepped up.
Happy tears for me. Sentimental today I guess. OMG, the ending. So perfect.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy of this to share.
