Publisher Description
Much has been written about the Song of Songs over the centuries and theories abound as to its true meaning. One of the keys to understanding this book, however, is that it is poetry, so there are repetitions and refrains throughout, and these need to be taken into account if we are to understand what is being said, and why it is included in Scripture.
Is it a story told, in poetic form, of a man and a woman deeply in love, in a monogamous relationship, possibly betrothed, waiting for their wedding day? Or is it describing the relationships of four different women with four different men - one a king, one Solomon, one an unfaithful lover, and one a faithful lover? It is this last scenario that this book considers.
