Songbird

I thought about the songbird, wondered how I knew her, she seemed so close to me. Was it an angel, sent to help me with things that were troubling me. She said, “pick your head up, and flap your wings, you’ll get the hang of it.” Just then I realized, I loved her deeply. She taught me just how life is.


As I grow older, songbird still helps me. She stays inside my soul. I keep her close there, nestled deeply. Never will I let her go. She helps me each day. I grow stronger, even though we said goodbye. She always sang with me and always will. Songbird helped me fly.
