The vicious murder of a young nurse, which copies the murder of a schoolgirl thirty years ago, is just the kind of thing Carl likes to write about. His plan is simple: churn out a book and pocket the profit.

But this time things aren't that easy.

Two women—an ambitious journalist and a police officer with a troubled life—want the murderer behind bars and decades-old wrongs to be paid for. Nothing will stop them. But Carl stands in their way and is dragged into an unsettling game of cat-and-mouse.
