Buried secrets never stay hidden in the South.
I fell in love with him when I was fourteen. Under the stars, he told me he loved me, and under the stars we promised to love each other always. But under the stars, he broke my heart by walking away.
He left me without a second glance. I was just an afterthought.
Now he's back, but this time, I'm not falling for his Southern charm.
It's time I get my happily ever after, even if part of me wishes he was still mine.
I found out on my twenty-first birthday that everything I thought I knew was a lie, and the man I had grown up thinking was my father wasn't.
The pain I felt blinded me, making it impossible to hear what anyone said.
I left them all behind, including her, my best friend and the woman I was going to marry.
Five years later, I'm back, only to find the woman I still love has another man's ring on her finger.
She's going to marry my best friend unless I stop her. And this time, I only have until sunrise to change her mind.
Absolutely obsessed with this series!
Absolutely obsessed with this series! After the explosive end of the previous book where Ethan finds out who his father actually is, he disappears and leaves his life and family behind. This book picks up five years later, where we find that Ethan has completely severed ties from his family and has never looked back, opting to join the armed forces and change his name. When a mission ends up going badly and he’s the only survivor, he is visited by someone from his past who lets him know they’ve known where he’s been the whole time and that it’s time to return home, he resists but eventually decides to go home. Once back in town, he realizes he’s the odd man out, especially when he sees that his old best friend is engaged to his ex-fiancé who he left without warning or a second glance when everything previously imploded. Emily was devastated when Ethan left and struggled for years with being a casualty of what happened and has worked hard to move on in her life, but when Ethan returns all those plans are thrown out the window. We see Ethan work to get back what he once had, and Emily greatly resist, but true love prevails and they end up getting their HEA. I continue to love this series as well as every book I’ve read from Natasha and cannot wait to see where she takes this series next!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I loved the other books in this series, but this one is dreadful. Remove the words “slipped,” “softly,” and “rolled his lips,” and the book would be half as long. Plus the sex is vulgar and I’m no prude. This book needed a much better editor than it had, or perhaps the author shouldn’t have been in such a hurry to finish it.
Southern Sunrise (Southern Series #4) is EXACTLY how you end a series in spectacular fashion!! This second chance, heartfelt and emotional romance will knock you off your feet. The secrets that come to light and the consequences of those secrets will shake you to your core. Just when I thought Southern Storm (Southern Series #3) was my favorite book in this series, Natasha Madison goes and proves me wrong in the best way possible. Southern Sunrise along with the entire series is flawlessly executed in such a way that you will not want to let these characters and their stories go.
Ethan and Emily’s young love is so beautiful and it seems these two are destined to have a wonderful life together. Until Ethan is told a major family secret that completely destroys him and in turn destroys his future with Emily and creates a self imposed isolation from his family. Hearts are broken, families are devastated and although this book gutted me at times, I loved every second of it. I devoured Southern Sunrise and the anticipation of each chapter had me begging for more. Natasha Madison delivers perfection in an all consuming story that I highly recommend reading.
