Addictive
Love this story! I’ve been addicted for the last 3 days as I’ve binged the first two books, and wait for the third :)
Great buildup but a bit anti-climactic
The story was great. I liked the build up but wish there was a little more suspense on who Horace was “killing”. I do like that I didn’t know whose body he was using fulfill his mission. I just wish the final “fight” was more edge-of-my-seat. I wish there was not planning and fighting.
This Book Will Cast A Spell On You
Kristen Proby proved in SHADOWS (Bayou Magic, #1) that she can more than handle herself with the genre jump from contemporary romance to paranormal. SPELLS once again shows her ability to bring in the creep factor, while losing none of the romance, writing a book that is the perfect next step in this series.
The Landry sisters of New Orleans have known that they have "gifts" for as long as they can remember, but only Millie has embraced hers wholeheartedly. A hedgewitch who is happiest mixing up concoctions in her shop and hanging out with her sisters, Millie is an unabashed practitioner of the craft, having spent most of her life learning about her abilities and how to use them.
Lucien and Millie have known each other for a long time...a very, very long time, and even though she takes her time admitting it, some things, like a love that spans the ages, are meant to be. Once Millie lets down her guard and lets Lucien in, the knowledge that they are truly a power couple becomes clear, and they will need each other, plus the power of those closest to them, to bring down an evil that they believed they'd already defeated.
There are plenty of twists and turns, grisly bits, and lovely ones, too, and all are blended perfectly into a story that had me on the edge of my seat. The best part is that there is more to come for the sisters and the men that love them, although I'm a little bit grumbly that it'll take a year to get there. In the meantime, SPELLS is the perfect spooky read, so lock the doors, turn on some lights, and enjoy. 🎃
