Journey’s end?
Holo and Lawrence have made their way into the Northlands. They are almost at Yoitsu at long last. But the town they come to on the way there is full of puzzles.
Holo has come seeking long lost comrades; they’ve had hints that something may be waiting.
The town itself is a mystery - it’s full of people engaging in commerce without the guild constraints found elsewhere. The town lacks walls - how can it be defended? And what’s up with the money?
The town is filled with mercenaries - yet no one can tell when or where they will be called to fight.
For Lawrence it all seems too good to be true. What’s the dark secret under all the surface pleasantry shared by the townsfolk? And when he discovers a business opportunity to realize his dream, does he dare gamble on it?
What is the great company that founded the town really planning to do - and will it be something the two of them can survive and prosper - or will they have to flee?
For Holo the wise wolf and Lawrence the merchant, less than a year has passed since their first meeting. Both of them have become different individuals - and partners - in the course of their travels.
What will they choose going forward if they finally realize the goals they started with, now that they have changed and shaped each other in their journey?
It’s a good read watching them roll with the punches and spar with each other. But be warned - this is a continuing tale.
