Great book!
This book has been very good! It has given me great strategies in how to deal with myself on a spiritual level as I battle depression.
“Put on a happy face”
I read this book many years ago and was struck by how vapid it really is. It didn’t meet the good reviews or hyperbole lauded upon it. Essentially, the abbreviated gist of the answer it presented was that if you’re feeling depressed pretend that you are not and your feelings will follow the pretense in time. It reminded me of that old song “Gray skies are gonna clear up. Put on a happy face and spread sunshine all over the place, just put on a happy face.” Totally unworthy of a man trained in medicine and the clergy.
A Classic - Do Not Let the Title Fool You
Spiritual Depression is the 1st of D. Martin Lloyd-Jones’ works I’ve read and I loved it. The book is anything but depressing and is most encouraging as we navigate this Christian life and the seasons in the wilderness we experience. His authorship is wonderful. I place D. Martin Lloyd-Jones in a similar class as Dudley Hall, Dallas Willard, and Charles Stanley.
