Six Questions For Diagnosing Your Spiritual Fitness

Walking into the building, I scan the card on my keyring before heading to the bathroom to change clothes. After changing into shorts and a T-shirt, I walk into a room that smells of sweat. The televisions on the wall show the exercises for the day. An instructor is there to lead and motivate the class. There are 15 stations with 45 minutes of intense work. Thankfully there is a 20-second rest break between exercises. After class begins, it isn’t long until sweat is running down my face, and everyone in the room is breathing hard. Why do many people like myself push themselves through sweat-drenched Crossfit style workouts, some on a daily basis? It is all part of a quest for physical fitness.
Many of us have learned that we need to take care of our bodies if we are going to maintain our health, strength, and vitality. Just as each of us needs to maintain our physical fitness, as Christians, we need to maintain our spiritual fitness. Neglecting spiritual fitness, like neglecting physical fitness, leads to an ineffective and unproductive Christian life.
In Spiritual Health, we look at six areas of the Christian life that every Christian needs to pursue to live effectively for Jesus. Word, Worship, Warmth, Witness, Works, and Wisdom.
