During the next week, her mysterious intruder gave her several more gifts. Mostly flowers, but one morning she noticed he had prepared pancakes for her. The smell of warm coffee and pancakes lured her to the kitchen even though she preferred to sleep longer.

Emma looked around, wondering if he would finally show his face. But there was no one. The food was still warm, so he must have left shortly before she got there. Could it be the same man that she had seen outside? The same person who left her flowers almost every day?

Who else could it be?

Emma was getting more curious and fed up with the entire charade. If he wanted to rent a room from her, he would have to man up and ask. And pay rent. Maybe leaving him a note would help. She wrote a brief message before she sat down to eat.

'Show yourself and stop being a wimp.'

It was probably less civil than she should have been. But really. The man sneaked into her bedroom while she slept. She was done being civil.
