Evan’s faith journey encounters a seemingly insurmountable obstacle when his wife is violently taken from him. Languishing in grief and despair a phone call upends his self-imposed exile. Gradually, he becomes aware of a trail of suspicious events. His questioning begins to entangle police officers, a past acquaintance who similarly suffered loss, a reporter and a work colleague of his wife. Their involvement initiates repercussions.
The tactics of this group prove unconventional and in exposing a major conspiracy places them in jeopardy. The Global Church was anything but an authentic religious body. In its operation it reflected the creed of humanism, of man’s pre-eminence and of pleasure and happiness as being the ultimate goal for human existence.
As Evan tries to deal with the challenges of interacting with people and coming to terms with looking beyond mortality to an eternal dimension, he finds a small booklet that his wife had used. It gave him advice and confidence for the battle ahead. The instructions all came down to one word—stand.
