Incredible
Hisao Tamaki's manga adaptation of A New Hope is not just one of my favorite Star Wars comics -- it's one of my favorite graphic novels, period. There's such dynamism and life breathed into these familiar scenes through the illustrations, all while staying faithful to the spirit of the original movie. I've owned the paper copies for a long time, and I'm so glad they're finally being made available digitally!
An interesting adaptation to one of film's greatest franchises.
As a manga reader, I was blown away to find out that my favorite movies were adapted to manga format. The illustrations depict a very classic manga format that depicts a fun read. The exaggerated facial expressions during a humorous scenario demonstrates that he had fun sketching each scene. Also all of the dialogue was taken from the scripts of the movies while adding a little new dialogue of their own that doesn't take away from the story. However I was disappointed that one of my favorite scenes with Darth Vader cut a snippet of some of his iconic lines in the first issue in particular. However I do understand that it can't be adapted word for word or else it would probably be too long. In a nutshell if you are a manga fan and a Star Wars fan, this is definitely for you. I can't wait to get to Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi!!!
Something new to Star Wars
I never thought that the people in Japan would do a Star Wars manga, really nice to see that but the question is don't the people in Japan should add some color to these novels? The writings help but the one thing that is missing is some color because I think it would look better than seeing it in black and white. If the people in Japan thought about adding color and re-release the novels that would be awesome. 😀
