The Rebel Force series begins here! In this adventure that takes place between Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, the Death Star has been destroyed, and the Empire is determined to discover the identity of the pilot responsible—Luke Skywalker. But keeping this information confidential is just one of the Alliance's problems. They are also out of money. So Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, and the droids head for Muunilinst, the financial heart of the galaxy...where the Empire's top assassin, X-7, will be waiting for them!
Quintessential Star Wars, in the best possible way!
This adventure takes place a couple weeks after the ending of Star Wars: A New Hope (the original movie, for those not “in the know”), and features the classic characters we all know and love: Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Artoo and Threepio. I must say, after so many dramatic Star Wars stories I’ve read of late, this book was a refreshing change of pace. It’s just plain Star Wars fun! It takes the prequels into account, but because it’s set so early in the saga-life of Luke, Leia, ent al, it doesn’t feel weighed down with all the baggage of so many years of added lore. Given that this book is aimed at younger readers, I enjoyed it much more than I expected. I figured I would enjoy it. I did not expect to be giddy from the experience. And lest I make it seem like there’s no drama in this story, that’s not the case at all; it’s just that the tone is light and pulpy, just like the original trilogy. It looks like there are five more books in this series. I look forward to enjoying each and every one of them. If you love Star Wars, particularly the original trilogy, you owe it to yourself to read this book.
Good book but too short for the price
I enjoyed the book but way too short for $5.99. I will not be buying the others in the series unless they come way down.
