Publisher Description

Being a mom is all of it: light and dark, highs and lows, fever pitch frustration and all-consuming love. By now, you already know that with great love comes great joy . . . and great pain. It can be crazy-making! But it doesn't have to be.

In Starry-Eyed, MOPS CEO Mandy Arioto reveals how the brightest and darkest moments of motherhood alike can become a sacred--and sanity-saving--opportunity to encounter God. There is a way to flourish in the midst of it all, and it starts with embracing the light and darkness in life with expectation and awe.

Heartening, enchanting, and always unflinchingly honest, Starry-Eyed will show you how to find the unexpected grace in your life as a woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Consider this your heart-to-heart sit-down with a woman who’s been there, and can help you find fresh eyes to see how beauty and pain can mingle with purpose.

Not a Christian Book

I caution if you are going to read this book to do so with a healthy dose of prayer and discernment. Read what God has to say about these ideas while researching the quotes and references. I received this book as a gift and have only read through the sixth chapter. So far most of the ideas, references, and quotes are from mysticism, mythology, eastern theology, etc. It seems the author is trying to point to God by embracing other religions, ideas, and theology.

Don’t endorse a motivational or inspirational book just because the author’s organization has impacted your life. Read God’s Word if you want to learn who you are, and test everything against Scripture.
“Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” - Colossians 2:6-8 (NASB)
