Stave Churches

The stave churches are about 1000 years old and were built using construction techniques, created by the vikings before the Christian religion was adopted in Norway. The use of carved wood together with a complex building style make the buildings architecturally unique, one is on the unesco list of Heritage properties. They were all created in a medieval time when tools were limited, which makes them all the more special and worth a visit.
