PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Wade (Undeniably Yours) launches the Misty River Romance series with this crafty mix of tragedy, intrigue, and romance. After Genevieve Woodward, the daughter of a prominent Georgia district attorney, receives a cryptic letter threatening her parents for "what they did," she leaves Nashville to head to their home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. On the drive, she nearly falls asleep at the wheel after taking too many painkillers, pulls over, and passes out in an empty cottage owned by Sam Turner, a farmer and restaurateur from Australia, who discovers her there in the morning. As Genevieve works to uncover whether her parents actually have a secret, she struggles to recover from her reliance on OxyContin. After that first night, she returns to thank Sam and the two form a friendship, but Sam's self-imposed isolation after the death of an ex-girlfriend has become an impenetrable wall against relationships. Sam, though, becomes a much-needed source of strength for Genevieve as she discovers the truth about her family. A subplot reveals how Genevieve and her sister were part of the Miracle Five survivors of a horrific earthquake while in South America on a teen mission trip which continues to affect her mental health and trust in others. While faith elements are slight, Wade's endearing love story will appeal to readers of Susan May Warren.
Customer Reviews
A wonderful story
First I want to say that that there is book # .5 in this series (and a # 2.5). So you might want to read .5 first. But you don’t have to. I just did not realize that there was a # .5 before I started reading this. So I thought I would let others know! Now on to the review of the book. This is actually the first full length novel that I have read by this author. And I loved it! All of characters were like old friends. (Okay so Genevieve’s mom got on my nerves a little bit. But that was part of the story. You’ll see what I mean.) I enjoyed the mystery that played out throughout the book, keeping the reader guessing. The main characters had real struggles to work through, just like we all do. And I especially appreciated the faith that was woven into the story. I am now officially a Becky Wade fan and can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series.
Wonderful New Series
Stay With Me is the first novel in Becky Wade’s new Misty River series. If you have ever read a Becky Wade book, you will certainly love this one. It is filled with all the things that make Wade an award-winning writer: classic banter between the characters, humor, love, and a heart touching spiritual message. If you haven’t read a Becky Wade book, since this is the first book in the series it is a perfect place to start.
I was taken in immediately by the characters in this story. First, Sam and Genevieve have professions that are not the most common ones that we read in a romance novel. Second, they are both encumbered with a load of secrets. What a weight they both are trying to carry on their own! I was engaged in their story from the first entertaining meeting of the two to the very last page.
Becky Wade handles some heavy topics in this book , but she handles them well. I felt respect and hope was given for people who struggle with similar things. I loved the inclusion of characters who forgive and continue to love anyway despite the mistakes committed by others. The story was brought to a satisfying conclusion, one that brought a few tears, but was full of grace.
I highly recommend this latest book by Becky Wade.
