A promise to herself she had made long before: to walk nearly 800 kilometres by foot.  Destination, Santiago de Compostela. But where should she start and with whom? Stage after stage the protagonist reveals all secrets of the Journey to Santiago, from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Finisterre: hidden corners, albergues for pilgrims, news, curiosities and recipes from the different cultures and places encountered. But she describes also and most of all the soul refinement process that leads her to find the most hidden part of herself and her wonderful and destabilizing encounter with the Spirit of Santiago. 

Halfway between personal diary and journal, this book enables the reader to organize, and love, a perfect Journey to Santiago. 


Carla De Bernardi was born in Alexandria and spent her childhood in Paris. She now lives in Milan where she works as a photographer specialized in portraits and interiors. Her work has been shown in many national and international exhibitions. She loves walking on the ancient medieval pilgrimage routes and has walked the Via Francigena, the Aragonese Way, the Journey to Santiago and the Journey to Assisi on which wrote Tutte le strade portano ad Assisi (i.e. All roads lead to Assisi), published by Mursia in 2011. She also wrote the novel Qualche lontano amore (i.e. Some distant love) published by Mursia in the same year. President of the Monumental Cemetry of Milan Friends Association she has published with Lalla Fumagalli in 2014 Un museo a cielo aperto. Il Cimitero Monumentale di Milano (i.e. An open-air museum. The Monumental Cemetery of Milan).
