A USA Today Bestseller.
THE URBAN FANTASY SERIES THAT HAS CAPTIVATED READERS FOR MORE THAN A DECADE.
A young woman is thrust into a new life after receiving the gift of immortality. Or was it a curse?
Zoë Merrick led an unremarkable life until the night she was brutally attacked. She narrowly escapes death, rescued by Adam, an ex-soldier who offers her friendship and shelter. But something isn't right. A powerful energy is now coursing through her body—one she's unable to control.
Justus De Gradi is handsome, arrogant, and not entirely human. After a chance meeting with a young woman who is dumbfounded by her Mage gifts, he offers himself as her mentor. Their world is treacherous, and if she doesn't master her power, others will.
Torn between two choices, Zoe can either hide in the human world or embrace her new gifts and live as a Mage. Justus has sworn an oath to guard her life, but can he protect her from the one man who has a right to claim it?
Zoë learns the price of freedom...and the value of loyalty.

★★★★★ "Urban Fantasy doesn't get much better then this."
★★★★★ "These books should be a TV series!"
I truly enjoyed this novel, despite the few negative reviews I read on Good Reads. However, it was Dannika Dark's reputation with me (I was in love with the Seven Series) and the Good reviews that were given, were great) that urged me to try Book 1 of the Mageri Series. Boy am I glad I did. One reviewer said she rates a good book by whether she chooses to read it all night long and brave exhaustion or go to sleep; that too is how I rate a good book........
Well folks, not only did I stay up all night listening to the Audiobook, but I continued throughout the early morning while in a zombielike state. I even put my shoes on the wrong foot. Two cups of strong coffee and a good multi-vitamin later, I brought Twist (book 2) and will be starting it during my evening commute home. Nothing chases away the annoyance of riding the NYC subway system like a good book.
FYI - I often alternate between the Audiobook version and kindle. When I can’t read, I listen. And sometimes the audiobook can really make or break a book depending on who the spoken artist is. Nicole Poole, who reads the Seven Series as well, is wonderful - great tone and pitch of her voice, good male impersonation, and great London accent.
*** ONLY GAVE 4 STARS INSTEAD OF 5 BECAUSE THE BOOK WAS NOT EXACTLY SLOW, BUT IT WAS NOT FAST PACED EITHER. GOOD STORY LINE AND DEFINITELY INTERESTING, BUT THERE WERE NOT MAJOR “GASP” MOMENTS. YOU DID FEEL THE CHARACTERS AS IF THERE WERE ACTUAL BEING, WHICH IS WHAT ADDED TO its ALLURE. ***
Amazing book :)
I found this book so hard to put down. Good thing there are more :)
This was my first Danika Dark book. Kept my interest from start to finish. I will buy the next in this series... Always fun to find a new favorite author!
