An interesting read
I really enjoyed the book. Obviously written by a big fan of his (not the usual detached author “it’s a job” style), that comes through in her writing, but I didn’t mind it. Gave it a nice personable feeling. Only criticisms I have is it needed a good professional editor and it could have used more interviews of others surrounding Steve at those times in his life for perspective. Too many grammar, spelling, etc. mistakes like that were distracting. But overlooking that, it was a detailed, heartfelt, “Journey” through Steve’s life with lots of personal interesting insights, tales and little details worth the price. A nice touch at the end was a collection of personal fan stories of the thrill of attending concerts. Photos in the back were OK but I expected some photos of his family, childhood, and teenage years—more history to the photos.
Great info
Even through the typos and poor grammar this book provides a lot of information on an under represented treasure...Steve Perry. I am amazed that there aren’t 50 books on arguably the greatest male pop rock singer in history. So, given the lack of available information, I am grateful for this one typos and all.
Incredibly vapid, poorly written and trite
There’s a paucity of books chronicling Journey and Steve Perry. I was hoping this ‘unauthorized ‘ biography of Perry would be an enjoyable reading, but it’s excruciating to pour through the adulatory and horrific grammar. The author is clearly not a native speaker of English and should have found herself someone to clean up the incessant abuse of the English language that she exposes us to on every page, in every sentence. Beyond the grammatical minefield, it’s a superficial survey of Perry’s life. Quite disappointing. I’m now just browsing quickly across the pages. Can’t wait until it’s over...
