Large cities offer a wide range of public transit that brings together people of diverse income, age, race, and ethnicity. Any amount of time spent in the Chicago Loop, or any other urban center, will reveal a mosaic representative of the population trying to get from one place to another. On the street and train platforms, one finds people lost in thought, listening to music, talking and texting on their cell phones, or sometimes even engaging in conversation with one another.
