Publisher Description
Every touch has its price
Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who's pretty sure things can't get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.
But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla's powers begin to evolve, and she's offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She's finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay….
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In this sequel to Armentrout's White Hot Kiss, half-demon Layla, daughter of Lilith (yes, that Lilith), is mourning the loss of her boyfriend, Roth (i.e. Astaroth, Prince of Hell), who sacrificed himself to save the world. All she has left of him is a snake named Bambi, whose habit of eating dangerous people comes in handy. While Layla's demonic side makes her apt to soul-suck anyone she kisses, she is also half-Warden, a race of demon-destroying gargoyles, which gives her an identity crisis and an uncomfortable position in the household of her adoptive Warden family. Just as it seems that Zayne, Layla's foster brother and former crush, can heal her broken heart, Roth reappears, along with a series of strange happenings. Students attack other students, demons are hatching in the school basement, a wraith-creating Lilin has been born, and Layla can't see auras anymore but she can kiss without killing. Series fans will appreciate the quick pace as Layla's attentions vacillate between an impossibly gorgeous Warden and an equally hot demon prince. Ages 14 up.

Another hit by JLA!
I read my first JLA book when I read White Hot kiss and wow did this sequel deliver! I am slowly turning into a Fantasy nerd thanks to the Dark Elements series… Bring on book #3!
So Very Good!
This one is my least favorite of the series, but it is still really, really good! So much happens in this book and that keeps you from putting it down. I feel for all 3 of the main characters and everything they have to go through in this book, especially Layla. This books is nowhere near sunshine and rainbows for her. She has a lot of things happen to her and around her and she is so strong to deal with it all. Even though I love Roth, it's really hard to not like Zayne and wish things were different. Zayne is such a sweet and caring guy that you can't wish him any ill will. This book is filled with twists and turns that constantly keep you wondering what is going to happen next.
