Publisher Description
Bastet never asked to be a symbol. She only wanted to repair her ship and keep her secrets buried. But when the Auction Choir convenes to sell Xylos to the highest bidder, her Watcher's gift collides with a storm she can't ignore.
Intef has hidden his power for centuries—stormbearer, soldier, predator restrained by iron cuffs. Obsessed with Bastet, desperate to claim and protect her, he's willing to risk exposure to keep her alive.
Together they ignite a refusal that shakes the Collective. Their resonance is more than power—it's hunger, obsession, revolution.
In a galaxy where silence is bought and sold, their bond may be the loudest weapon of all.

An incomplete ode written to consent
This is poetry more than prose, delightful and only vaguely comprehensible, but there are a couple of major editing issues, with the first half of a chapter spliced onto the second half of another, and the ending being apparently overwritten by a redux of the beginning chapter. It’s odd and beautiful, and I’d love to read it as it was intended, but sadly it’s a very unsatisfying read in this form.
