Story Of Glooskap As Told In A Few Words By A Woman Of The Penobscots

Charles Godfrey Leland (1824-1903) was an American writer working in the genres humour and satire and collecting folklore. He studied American and European traditions and travelled a lot while working as a journalist. Leland became famous for his comic book 'Hans Breitman's Ballads'.


This short piece of prose represents a brief retelling of Indian myths with the commentary and the analysis by Charles Leland. It's dedicated to Glooskap — the main character of Indian folklore — and the ways his character corresponds to similar ones in Anglo-Saxon mythology.
