Strategic Vulnerability

This is the second time reading Strategic Vulnerability by Mandy Roth. This extended and edited annoiversary edition is defitnitly worth a second read of the story and is a welcome addition to the series whether you are new to the series or revisiting it.
I've loved the first three books in this paranormal series about a secret organization of shifters, fae and magical creatures, many of whom had been victims of an evil organization looking to create a race of super soldiers. Each story focuses on a particular couple as well as participation getting to revisit with characters from previous books who take integral roles throughout the series.
This is Wilson Rousseau and Kimberly's story. Due to a mix up while they were genetically altering his DNA, rat DNA was used causing Wilson much to his horror to become a ratshifter instead of a deadly feline shifter such as a tiger. Wilson has been captured by the evil Dr. Krauss who is running his DNA experiments in the jungles of South America. His team thinks he has been killed but their mates are sure Wilson is still alive and set off to rescue him. Wilson is at the end of his rope in full despair after months held, tortured and driugged in this prison.
Kimberly is on a trip to study plants led by Dr.Krauss when she finds herself double crossed by the doctor and wakes up in the prison in the same cell as Wilson. Kim's dad is major fae royalty and she has other paranormal DNA through her mother that left her at an early age.
The pull between the two is instantaneous as Wilson realizes she is this mate, down to the ability to speak through their minds.
The story gives us a different look at Wilson who is often on the receiving end of jokes and ribbing by his team. We see him through Kim's eyes, as a hunky gorgeous protective hero/soldier.
. I would have preferred the built of the story not take place mostly in the prison and the book overall seemed a bit shorter than the first three books. Loved getting Wilson's story, a new perspective of the hot IOPS soldier and am glad he finally got his HEA. Kim and Wilson's adventure, heroic escape and trials in the prison make for an exciting well written book 4.
