Striking Heat

Finally! I’ve been called up to play professional soccer.

The Tampa Bay Blaze is a newly created National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team. And in a bold move the new owner, not only drafted me, but he also named me the captain.

The trouble is the city of Tampa is not thrilled to have a second NWSL team in Florida. Especially one with a bunch of players that no one has ever heard of.

But I’m determined to make it work and wow the city.

My boldness catches the attention of Tampa Bay Times sports reporter, and former Olympic swimmer, Danny Taylor. Danny challenges me from the first time we meet but I stand up to him. Causing some sparks to fly in the Press Room. Despite the fact that we cause sparks, he’s assigned to write an in depth piece of me and the Blaze.

The more time we spend together, the more heat that grows between us. It’s complicated for both of us, but we’re too busy enjoying one another to care about the consequences of the boundaries we are crossing.

Soccer has always been my first love, but Danny is changing all of that. He understands me in a way that no one ever has. Holds me like no other and makes it harder to consider giving him up.

But a love like this has to be hidden but with the amount of heat that we’re causing, we can’t stay hidden for too long.
