STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF DISTRIBUTION OF CHARGE ON THE PURIFICATION OF COBALT‪.‬

Byline: Sheikh Asrar Ahmad, Zia Ullah Khokhar and Muhammad Abdul Qadir ABSTRACT: The present work deals with study of the effect of distribution of charge on the purification of cobalt. Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) and Inductive Couple Plasma (ICP) analyzed the purified Co deposited on working microelectrodes. Observed optimum conditions for the cobalt purity were the use of a supporting electrolyte solution containing 1.2 M NH4OH + 0.2 M NH4Cl (pH = 10.0). 1.0 M KCl was used as a conducting electrolyte. Each micro cathode was 1 mm apart. The micro cathodes and anode were at a distance of 7.2 cm and at applied 8.9 V and 2.1 A, when the charge was distributed at 2500 Hz using a micro controller based digital electron switching system.
