Subcontinent Sirens

Volume-Eight in the "Subcontinent Sirens" collection brings us two works of psychological fantasy fiction involving the females of the Indian Subcontinent.

The first of our two books is Rafael Menton's "Adhira Khatri", in which the Indian widow and former neighbour of a man imprisoned for the attempted murder of the friend and boss who took his wife and family from him visits him and makes a strange offer… An offer that will provide him with a roof and gainful employment upon him finishing his sentence… An offer that, while it offends his sense of himself as a man, will at least allow him a platform from which to plot revenge upon the former friend living in HIS home with HIS family.

"Vincennes" by Kurt Steiner concludes the volume as Mr Steiner brings us the tale of how a powerful English businessman has his life dismantled on a business trip to Kolkata… And dismantled with effortless ease in the most inexplicable of ways by a young Indian waitress he would once never have spared a second glance… Ways so powerful he feels compelled not only to stay in Kolkata at her side but to jettison the family waiting for him back in London.

Believable and female-led fantasy fiction for those readers who prefer to use their imaginations with the help of character-driven plotlines.
