Kira Jones is determined to make a new life for herself in the Big Apple. The catch? Babysitting a hot French bad boy zillionaire and keep tabs on him in exchange for enough cash to open her own business. Easy, right? But after a paparazzo exposes her in a very compromising position with her new boss, the tables are turned—and she ends up agreeing to marry him!
Luc Beauford wants one thing—to avenge his brother's death and destroy his estranged father's empire. If that means going along with this ridiculous PR stunt, so be it. But when he agreed to marry the sexy brunette, he didn't count on the obsessive attraction between them occupying every second of his time…and the strong connection threatening to distract him from his revenge plan.

A good story overall, some minor editing is needed for misused words
Whatever you do, don’t sleep with Luc.
the first line in the book I was intrigued. Luc, it turns out, is an interesting man and not at all as he first appears. Kira is pretty much exactly what I expected. They made an appealing couple. The story has a plot: Kira was hired by Luc’s dad to basically spy on him and Luc, while outwardly appearing to be getting to know the father he hadn’t seen since he was a child, was actually plotting against him to ruin a big deal he had planned. Kira and Luc agree to a marriage of convenience, each for their own reasons, but then both find themselves falling for one another.
This book had everything it should have to make it really great. Unfortunately it just fell flat. There were no surprises, interactions felt forced and contrived, sometimes the action didn’t make sense and no one seemed to notice inconsistencies. For example, at the beginning, when Richard, the PR guy showed them photos of Luc and Kira in his bed when she was trying to wake him up, how did no one question how a pap was able to take the pictures when they had been in the bedroom of his private penthouse apartment? The reality is, it would have been impossible, but that’s ignored as well. And even after it happened no one seemed concerned that it might happen again. This is just one of many more examples I could list but won’t.
The other thing that really took away from the story was the way relationship between Kira and Luc was handled. They went from zero to sixty in less than two chapters. There was no developing of something between them, very little fore play of any kind, and I don’t mean sexually. To me they never truly connected in an emotional way, apart from saying they were falling for each other. I didn’t see it at all. The sex scenes, while explicit, had no real steam or emotion. The descriptions were almost clinical and projected no feeling behind their actions. Even when Luc tells Kira he loves her she doesn’t even acknowledge what he said. It was like it wasn’t important when it should have been the most emotional line in the scene. Never once did any of their romantic interactions ever show any excitement. What a pity. I expected so much more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
