Beautiful story about love and forgiveness

Actual Rating 4.5 Stars

Suffer love is a beautifully written story about love, the consequences of the decisions others/we make, and ultimately forgiveness. It explores not only the relationship between parents and children, but also those between siblings, friends, and lovers.

I loved being able to be in both Sam and Hadley's heads. The way they both struggle and deal with the new reality of their lives was emotional and I was especially drawn to Sam's voice and the battle between his head and his heart. There were definite times when his pain and heartache were palpable. I loved how the author added humor to the main character's inner dialogues that helped lighten the sometimes heavy themes. There were things I could have done without/wished didn't happen (ahem, Nicole; Kat's disapproval with Hadley's choices was a little much at times), but overall I found the book really enjoyable and was captivated until the end.

Speaking of the ending, I did feel that it was a bit abrupt and I would have loved a little more closure/an epilogue, but I think it still works because you're left with what I think the characters are left with - hope that things will be better.

Unputdownable!

Oh. My. Wow! SUFFER LOVE by Ashley Herring Blake is completely addictive and full of feeling. This is a stay-up-late and ignore the world kind of read. Unputdownable!

These characters really came to life. Every single person was realistic and richly layered–even down to the minor douche bag jock character. The stakes were extremely high for Hadley and Sam–their emotions poured out of the pages. I felt like I was living and breathing this story. Keep a box of Kleenex handy.

The writing is smart and succinct. Not a single word felt wasted. This debut is NOT to be missed! I LOVED this book!!!
