출판사 설명
Year 2218.Why does a man, haunted by a profound encounter with an alien intelligence and stalked by a devastating addiction, accept an impossible mission to save humanity from certain annihilation? Because he is Aiden Macallan, commander of the Sun Wolf, and those afflictions make him the only person for the job.
After fifty years of enabling human expansion into Bound Space, the enigmatic voidoids are beginning to shut down. No one knows why, or who's behind it, but one thing is certain: if all the voidoids disappear, not only is humanity locked out of Bound Space forever, but it will unleash a torrent of dark energy tearing our universe apart, from atoms to stars. It will happen soon and happen fast unless Aiden and his hand-picked crew can stop it.
But as they set course for the Frontier in search for answers, someone is trying to stop them, attacking from the shadows at every step of the way. Someone who just might want the destruction of the voidoids to proceed. Now, in a race against time and malevolent forces, light-years from home, the Sun Wolf is humanity's only hope for survival.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Quick thinking, scientific acumen, and plenty of guts punctuate Jeffrey's fast-paced second Space Unbound adventure (after Through a Forest of Stars). Someone or something is sabotaging the voidoids, portals through which ships can jump to other stars within a 36.3–light-year radius of Sol and without which the flow of space travel is disrupted. The United Earth Domain promotes scientist Aiden Macallan to captain the maiden voyage of the advanced science ship Sun Wolf to investigate. The most likely saboteur is Green War, a violent Earth isolationist group that wants to end off-world colonization, but another clue is an unidentified ship spotted near a disabled voidoid. Eminent scientist Dr. Elgin Woo, famous for hypothesizing that the voidoids may be necessary for the functioning of the universe, could help, but he has gone missing. Instead, Maryam Ebadi, Woo's colleague on Luna Station, joins Sun Wolf on its dangerous mission. Though the prose is sometimes jargon-heavy, Jeffrey's obvious passion for hard science shines through his immersive worldbuilding, which incorporates a diverse cast, espionage, quantum physics, and epic space battles. This well-plotted sci-fi thriller recaptures the feel of the first book and is sure to delight fans. (Self-published)
