One voice can save a life; one heart can bring you home…
Ross Dyer is ready to give up on love. The sleepy-eyed cowboy has always danced to the tune of a different drummer, but after being dumped by his latest girlfriend, he’s beginning to think he’ll spend his life dancing—and sleeping—alone. Add in the impending failure of his restaurant, thanks to a smear campaign waged by his childhood nemesis, and Ross doesn’t have much reason to care if the armadillo sees his shadow.
And then she comes home…
Fourteen years ago, Elodie Prince was a scared little girl. In her world, the only light was a sweet boy everyone called Ugly Ross, who to her was always beautiful. I have read the whole Lonesome Point TX Series and love every book. I was so excited to when I found out Ugly Ross was getting a novella. His nickname may be Ugly Ross but he is anything but...
When Ugly Ross first fell in love he was only twelve and the girl didn't even know it and now it was too late, she was moving away from Lonesome Point and all the bullies that made her life miserable. The only person that really knew her not as Stinky Elodie but as the most interesting girl he knew was Ross. When she left Lonesome Point she was a shy and timid girl but now she was all grown up and so was Ross.
After fourteen years of thinking about Elodie and dating woman in town just to get through the lonely days, she was back. And after being apart for so long you would think it would be awkward but no, it was like no time was between them. The feelings were still there but now they are grown up and ready to move forward. When the bullies from their past try to bring them down, will they fight back?
I loved this story because it was about friendship, love and also about bullying. Ross is just so sweet and Elodie might look like a fragile girl but she is tough and her job proves it. The great thing about Jessie's novellas is that there is so much story in a fast read. Can't wait for the next book.
Quotes:
"D-d-don't, Ross," Elodie said softly.
"He's not worth it."
"But you are."
"Animals love me. I'm probably an armadillo whisperer, I just don't know it yet." ~ Clementine.
"My lips are at your service, El. Whenever, wherever. You just say the word."
Sunny with a Chance of True Love
Jessie Evans is such a great writer and her Lonesome Cowboys are the best. Never thought I wanted to read about Cowboys but now I cannot get enough of those hunks! Ugly Ross is no longer the ugly duckling nor is Elodie. They have grown up and overcome so many cruel things said and done to them. When Ross and Elodie finally find each other again they pick up right where they left off. It's such a great novella packed full of love, romance and second chances! I'm hoping we will see more of these two in future books.....please! I loved the book and Jessie's fabulous writing! Don't miss out!
A Must Read: Sunny with a Chance of True Love by Jesse Evans
Jesse Evans tells the story of Ugly Ross like no other. Thank you for such a wonderful story.
Although Ugly Ross is not the strongest kid or man when grown up..... he is the strongest intellectually and ends up winning the fight while only using his brains.
The story moves you through Ugly Ross' life as a boy to manhood and takes you on a very thrilling ride through it all. There will be lots of smiles and lots of tears but all the while it will be worth the read.
This is a must read by Jesse Evans!!!
