SUNSET: MEMORIES OF MY MOTHER, is a modern story about the tyrannical forces that worked against an elderly woman in the latter stages of her life. The setting in this nonfictional chronicle is Bethesda, a rehabilitation and assisted living community. The characters in this book are generous and funny, tough and smart, and they gave the author the inspiration needed to reward the reader line-by-line to know them really well. After almost sixty years as a wife and mother, and at a time when her children have long since flown the family nest, health-stricken Audrey is set on teaching a few more of life’s lessons to the people she encounters. Aunt Rose, Audrey’s sister, arrives on the scene when she is needed most. The main objective for writing this story is to help people who are in the position of making difficult decisions about prevalent issues they face when caring for an elderly family member they love. The hope is that awareness will enable others to refine their own beliefs and make end of life circumstances easier for all families.
