Publisher Description
She craves connection. He's an emotional island. What will it take to bridge the gap?
Hope Fairmont despairs of ever finding 'the one'. Burned one too many times, she buries her girlhood dreams of love to focus on her fashion career. Too bad the photographer she works with is insufferably arrogant. Even so, something in him calls to everything in her.
Ares Beckett learned early to be wary of people. And it's a lesson that sank deep. But somehow the guileless, warm-hearted beauty burrows under his skin like a not altogether unwelcome sliver. Worse, she's making him feel things that are dangerous.
She won't settle for less than everything.
And he's afraid to open his heart.
If neither bends, both will break.
Customer Reviews
Real life, real love, real people
This book wrecked me. I was warned by Devin but I still was not prepared.
I’m an incredibly emotional person. And this book brought out all of the emotions. The good and the bad. I said it before in my review for a lifetime of after’s. But I related a scary amount to Hope.
I was a single, hardworking mom. One who thought her job would give her everything she needed and provide her child the life she needed. The unknown of what my actions would do in the long run but knowing in my heart I was doing the best I could for my little one. And now I’m a sahm mom who’s finally figured out what she wants to be when she grows up. On the journey of becoming the best I can for myself and everyone else important in my life.
I also related to Ares in the aspect that I vowed to not do what my parents did raising me. That I wouldn’t/won’t be them. That i’d do better. The struggle of being incredibly self critical and unsure if I was actually doing the right thing for my child.
I also cried when I realized the answer to something that has been difficult for the last 6 years of my life. When a book gives you an answer you’ve been searching for for years you know it’s a good one.
Devin has an amazing ability to write real romance with real people with real problems. Each book I read by her solidifies my love for her writing and books.

Mature characters
Sweet Everythings gives us realistic situations with realistic characters. Hope and Ares are both single parents to adorable little girls. They both struggle with work, relationships and parenting. Somethings most people can relate to. The story was fun and emotional.
I loved Hope. She was confident with what she wanted. She was a great mother and had an amazing support system with her daughter’s father Lucky and his amazing partner Minty. We met them previously in their own story(Also amazing). She has her dream job but her love life is lacking. As her job becomes more demanding, it causes friction with her mom. Mom is a traditional wife and stay at home mom. The dynamics of her relationship with Hope’s dad is something Hope hates and doesn’t understand. They constantly butt heads. Hope wants it all: career and family.
Ares, single father and a bit of a grump. Except with his daughter. He did not leave a good impression when he first met Hope. He was rude. As we get to know Ares, we get a better understanding of his behavior. His was full of hurt from his past. It was enough to make you cry for him. It made him a loner. He didn’t trust easy and guarded his heart and daughter fiercely.
Hope took a chance in Ares. He didn’t realize what was missing until he was introduced to her circle. Hope showed him that a family is not always blood. It took going through some ups and downs but it was worth it.
Great characters, wonderful plot and excellent writing.
