Such a thoughtful, compassionate book
Hoyt has written a story that deal very honestly and gracefully with the struggles of having intimacy as a person who’s experience trauma. My mother has PTSD from events similar to Eve’s childhood (though far less extreme) and I saw so such of her quiet strength in Eve. Hoyt has really done such a compassionate job with this book, and created the perfect hero for a story this loaded - Asa may be masculine and violent (and sexy!) but he also listens, trusts, and learns from his mistakes. A role model to all who interact with victims of abuse! What a wonderful, romantic book!
Sweetest Scoundrel
Love love love all Elizabeth Hoyt’s books,but really enjoed this one…the characters jump off the page ….the settings are real in my imagination…the plot keeps me reading it in one sitting...all in all a 5 star read….
One of my new faves in this series
Ms Hoyt never fails in her story telling. Suspense, angst, tenderness, a little tragedy and always love and healing.
I loved the main characters and the supporting cast as well. Well written, the pace of the story and love affair make sense. I love the big strong hero who is soft and thoughtful of their heroine and her fears. I loved the heroine for having courage even though she had real and legitimate reasons to just be afraid and live within the confines of that fear.
And the fights between the two of them.
We only see a few of the past Maiden Lane characters as they relate to Asa's family, but it's enough of a wink to the rest of the series for me. It has become so much more than just about the Ghost of St. Giles.
