Publisher Description

True surfers understand that surfing is not a sport, a hobby or even a lifestyle. Instead, it is a path, a constantly evolving journey that directs where you go, how you live, and who you are.

In 2006, Liz Clark decided to follow the path that surfing, sailing and love of the ocean had presented to her. Embarking on an adventure that most only dream of taking, she set sail from Santa Barbara, solo, headed to the South Pacific. Nine years later she is still following her path in search of surf and self and the beauty and inspiration that lies beyond the beaten path.

In stories overflowing with epic waves and at the whim of the weather, Liz captures her voyage in gripping detail, telling tales of self awareness, solitude, connection to the earth, and really great surf spots.

Inspiring and Captivating

Didn’t want to put this book down. Appreciate Captain Liz’s raw honesty and vulnerability. Is there a sequel in the works? So much to learn from this wise and courageous adventurer and would enjoy reading more. Mahalo for sharing your adventure and heart.

Re-energizing and calming

Equal parts travel log, self discovery, and adventure. Great reflections even for this old and somewhat salty dog. My young daughter loves it too.

Female traveler must read

I read this book while embarking on my own journey through Europe for three months to finish my bachelors degree. Whether it was sitting on my bag in airport gates, or laying under a palm tree next to the warm Adriatic Croatian sea this book made me feel empowered and loved. While reading about Liz’s experiences I felt as though a dear friend was sharing their story with me and encouraging me that I too am brave and capable enough to navigate my own solo travels. The chalets felt cosmic at the times they came into my life. Liz describing battalions her illness and coming out stronger as I too dealt with illness in an unfamiliar terrain. Her perseverance to push on and keep the spirit of adventure in your head has set ablaze to my own passion as well. To keep from digressing further this book is a must read and has changed my life in a way that no other piece of writing has. Thank you Liz
