What began as a leisurely trip to take Gnat home becomes a race against time.

Powerful forces are at play as the duo of Shield and Scepter, Jinaari and Thia, traverse the treacherous path of fame and danger. The road, once a means to an end, has now become their home, filled with loyal followers and deadly foes. But as Thia's health begins to deteriorate, she realizes that something insidious is draining her strength. With her god-given abilities, she should be able to heal herself, but an unknown force stands in her way. As Thia's condition worsens, Jinaari must find a way to save her before it's too late. Can he fulfill his promise to the Gods and protect Thia? Will they succumb to a fate that has been chasing them all along?
