Sycamore Elementary School
Claremont, Ca
Publisher Description
Sycamore Elementary School is unique among public schools because of its multi-age learning philosophy. Over the past 125 years, Sycamore has grown from a one room schoolhouse into the school home of over 400 kindergarten to sixth grade students. Nestled on the fringes of the Claremont Colleges, our school’s heritage is rooted in a collaborative and child-centered approach to learning. Classrooms intentionally join students of multiple grades and allow students to remain with their teacher for two or more years, cultivating the relationships and trust essential to risk-taking and growth. Within this non-competitive and collaborative environment, students are inspired by cross-curricular study of the Standards as well as interest-based topics selected by the class and individuals. Students are taught to reflect and know themselves as learners. Creativity is fostered, individual growth is celebrated, and a problem solver’s voice is developed, all of which are strengthened with the use of Apple technologies. Sycamore students master the California State Standards, develop skills for leadership, build problem solving skills and citizenship, and grow into self-directed, life-long learners. Join us on a Sycamore learning adventure!
