Judith can’t help but think everything would be different if she didn’t live on the East Coast of the US. It wasn’t her fault a war had come to her home turf, but now she had to figure out how to survive it.
Luka was leading his men in every way he could, in battle, and now in trying to build new lives as this war hopefully came to a close. Sadly that also meant trying to deal with the painful losses they’d all suffered as part of the war. While he was ready to protect all those in the community they were building, he wasn’t quite ready to bring someone new into his life… maybe that’s why his commanding officer made it an order.
This done in one book has an intensity that is riveting. A page turner where Judith is trying to sort through who to trust, her government, the people in the street, the news, the enemy soldiers? And then there’s the issue of waking up one morning and no longer feeling safe in her own home… surely there is somewhere she can feel safe…. people she can feel safe with? The insecurities and self-doubts that come with your world being turned upside down make for a compelling story, leaving me hopeful this is part of a series.
